Growth Habit:
Upright, narrow ornamental tree with strong vertical framework. Typically trained to a single trunk or narrow multi-stem form. Canopy develops a columnar to narrow oval outline with ascending primary branches and moderate interior visibility. Moderate growth rate.
Foliage Description:
Very dark burgundy to near-black foliage throughout the growing season. Elliptic leaves with smooth margins. New growth emerges extremely dark and maintains strong contrast against bright red blooms. Dense but structured canopy.
Flower Description:
Upright terminal panicles of saturated red crinkled flowers. Panicles medium to large and held above the foliage. Bloom clusters structured and upright, not loose or drooping.
Bloom Time:
Mid to late summer.
Fall Color:
Foliage may deepen to maroon tones before leaf drop in cooler climates.
