Purple Basil
Latin Name: Ocimum Basilicum
Purple Basil is a striking herb with deep purple leaves, stems, and a subtle hint of licorice flavor. It thrives in well-draining, slightly acidic soil and makes an attractive garnish for a variety of culinary dishes. Regular harvesting and pruning just above the leaf nodes encourages bushier growth and more vibrant color. Begin harvesting when plants reach 6–8 inches tall, picking from the top rather than the bottom. Purple Basil also offers improved resistance to downy mildew, making it a beautiful and reliable addition to the garden or container collection.
