Hot Portugal peppers are moderately hot, upright plants producing dark red fruits with smooth or slightly wrinkled skin. With 5,000–30,000 Scoville Heat Units, they’re perfect for adding spice to fresh dishes or cooked recipes. Grow in rich soil and water at the roots to keep them moist. Harvest when the peppers are firm and deep red, and use stakes to support the plants as they develop.
